Sustainable Water Supply in Bangladesh project plans to set up deep water wells in the rural communities where people don’t have access to clean and safe water and people don’t have adequate knowledge on hygiene practice. Safe and readily available water is important for public health, whether it is used for drinking, domestic use, food production or recreational purposes. Improved water supply and sanitation, and better management of water resources, can boost countries' economic growth and can contribute greatly to poverty reduction. SDG-6 calls for ensuring universal access to safe and affordable drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, and ending open defecation. It also aims to improve water quality and water-use efficiency and to encourage sustainable abstractions and supply of freshwater.
